Due to the overwhelming demand, we are working on a consultation basis and targeting toddlers and preschoolers in whom there is concern for autism. A new patient history is completed by parents, along with a developmental inventory and developmental/behavioral rating scales; then the appts are scheduled. Evaluations are generally performed over 3-4 days depending on the ability of the child. Day 1 includes parent interview, observation and physical exam. Day 2 (and possibly day 3) is for testing and includes an ADOS. The final day is for diagnostic feedback, parent discussion, and development of a management plan. My recommendations are integrative and practical.
